Toddlers Class Teacher
Sisca is our fantastic Infant and Toddlers teacher. She graduated from a psychology faculty in 2007 and has been working with children for the last 3 years. Sisca started as a teacher assistant for gifted children then in 2008 she worked as a tutor in an English course. Sisca has taught students from kindergarten level to teenagers. Sisca enjoyed teaching English and decided that she would continue her experience in an International School Setting so she joined Semarang International School in October 2008. Sisca applied for a teacher assistant vacancy in preschool and enjoyed the opportunity to teach children with various nationalities. During Sisca’s second year at Semarang International School, she was asked to be the lead teacher in the Toddler class. Sisca has said “it’s a wonderful experience and I continually improve my skills in teaching children. I find that Semarang International School gives me opportunities to expand knowledge by providing teachers professional development such as guided reading, running records, international mindedness, and guidance with our International Primary Curriculum.
Toddlers Class Teacher
Desi has been working in International schools for the last 4 years. After she graduated from Diponegoro University Faculty of Letters with a major in American Studies, Desi immediately worked at Semarang International School for more than 2 years and has taught across many different levels of class. Desi moved to Jakarta in 2009 to follow her husband and she worked for an international school in Jakarta. There, she also taught different levels of classes and specialized in early childhood levels. With her 4 years experiences in 2 different international schools, Desi has improved her knowledge and teaching skill. Now, she’s back at Semarang International School and ready to work together with the team for the development of the school. Desi thinks that every child is unique and develops at his/her own paces so we need to guide and help them to explore their uniqueness. For her, teaching is her passion.
The early years of a child’s life are very important. During the infant and toddler years, children grow quickly and have so much to learn. Some children and families face special challenges and need extra help. Early help does make a difference!
We naturally think of a child’s growth as height and weight, but from birth to 5 years, your child should reach milestones in how he plays, learns, speaks and acts. A delay in any of these areas could be a sign of a developmental problem. The good news is, the earlier it’s recognised the more you can do to help your child reach her full potential.
Our program provides an opportunity for children to grow physically, mentally, socially and emotionally in a consistent and supportive environment. Our goal is to provide educational and developmental services to children through love, respect and understanding. We also provide an environment in which children can challenge, explore, make mistakes and experience success.
We offer two different Toddler Courses at Semarang International School. Toddler One, from 10:30 – 12:20 Monday through Friday, is an introductory class for younger students giving them an opportunity to attend school on a daily basis and develop their skills in expressing themselves and learn with others. Mothers are encouraged to attend these classes with their students to participate in their development.
The second class for Toddlers is our Toddler Two class from 8:00 – 10:20 Monday through Friday. This is for 2 – 3 year olds and used as a transition from an Early Years course to a Pre-school class throughout the school year. These students are encouraged to work without parent supervision in class to fully maximize their learning abilities.
